About

The red light, taken off the glass

Every other trade in this city asks you to walk to the light. Ours carries the light to you, no parlour, no address, only a roster spread across the districts and a phone that has never once been switched off.

The red light is Amsterdam's oldest piece of honesty. For four centuries it has meant the same three things: desire acknowledged rather than smuggled, a price stated rather than hinted, and a warm room offered against the weather off the water. We think that inheritance deserves better than a pane of glass on a crowded alley, so we run it the other way around. The lamp comes to the room you already hold, a hotel bed inside the ring, an apartment up a steep staircase, and the crowd never sees anything at all.

Why there is no address

A parlour fixes a business to one door and makes every guest walk through it. Our forty-five women live where they live, through the Jordaan, the old centre, Oud-Zuid and De Pijp, and each goes out from her own district, which is the whole trick behind the twenty-to-thirty-minute promise. There is no building for the city to notice, no waiting room to sit in with strangers, and no journey home afterwards with the evening written on your face. You never leave your room; the city rearranges itself around you instead.

The standard behind the lamp

Every woman on the roster was met before she was listed, photographed by us rather than by herself, and taken on for how she works a full hour rather than how she fills a frame. They are aged twenty-one to thirty, they carry some two dozen passports between them, and each keeps her own short list of the six services this site sells, oil, sensual, happy ending, naked, nuru and tantra. The house is strict about exactly two things: guests are twenty-one or older, no exceptions and no charm accepted, and everything is agreed in writing before anyone crosses a bridge.

The clock is the last article of faith. A red light that goes out at midnight is a shop sign; ours answers at any hour, prices the small hours at the daytime rate, and treats a Sunday like a Tuesday. Schiphol's airport hotels sit outside the ring and outside the standard promise, so those are arranged individually when you write, we would rather shape the answer to the drive than quote you a fiction.
